Ed’s book is completely different from most books on memory in both good ways and bad. The good is that he demonstrates in detail his method of memorizing which consists of wild and crazy imagery and substitute words attached to relevant journeys.

You can read the first pages on and what you see there is what the whole book consists of.The bad part is that the information conveyed consists only of Presidents, Prime Minister, Countries of Europe and Kings nd Queens of England. If you don’t want to know that info then the book only offers a model and techniques for learning such things.I was inspired by it to really use stories for putting together disparate concepts and images.Hope this helps.Dale. The reason I like the book is that it provides examples on how to make images.

I would recommend it as a second or third memory book for someone.A first book like Dominic O’Brien’s Quantum Memory Power would teach the basics of the method of loci, then Ed Cooke’s book provides specific examples of generating creative images. It doesn’t explain the method of loci or any other techniques though.Example image:A severed head in the refrigerator that is squirting ketchup on Eric Clapton and his guitar is the image for King Edred (head-red) who defeated Eric Bloodaxe (ketchup = blood, guitar = axe).

I loved his book.If you read all of it you will know (quite easily) all the US Presidents, UK Prime Minister, Countries of Europe and Kings and Queens of England without prior memory techniques.More than this though I found it great for showing how to go about making up a story, knowing all the people in order and then once that is down you can embellish the story and add interesting facts about the people. Breaking down difficult names all so inspiring.I found myself doing additional linking through the lists such as King George III going mad and the first American President.

Being able to cross timelines is fantastic.
